Week of October 1st
Enrichment Reading: Thought you Daily Show fans out there would be interested in these findings from Indiana University.
We're wrapping up literacy narratives this week. Two different calendars this week; the drop days made it confusing:
Period 4
- Monday: While I’m out, you’ll be completing a Venn diagram activity with the substitute that asks you to look for parallels between some of the writer’s we’ve read and yourself. People have made some very interesting discoveries with this approach, even though it might seem really basic on the surface. Complete, typed drafts due tomorrow.
- Tuesday: Class drops.
- Wednesday: Vocab quiz and peer editing. Remember to turn in with your final draft: one rough draft, all peer edit feedback forms, your paragraph “statement of intention.” Please complete Unit Two in the vocab book for Friday.
- Thursday: Wrap up peer editing.
- Friday: Review vocabulary, discuss the sample openings, begin a brief PSAT review (we’ll do a couple questions every day or two between now and the test, just to get warmed up). Remember that final drafts with backup material (see above) and vocab exercises are due on Tuesday.
